Internet Porn Addiction
The World’s Overflowing Scourge

Internet porn addiction ranks as one of the fastest growing calamities in the world. Its pandemic consequences affect men, women and children everywhere. Pornography is destroying families and debilitating societies around the globe.

Pornography of some sort or another has been around for years. The internet, the unparalleled resource for information, makes pornography more available than ever before.

Internet pornography use

TopTenReviews.com reports alarming statistics about internet porn. For example, 25% of daily searches on the internet are for pornography. There are over 420 million pornographic pages on over 4 million sites, or about 12% of total websites.

Over 42% of internet users view porn, and 35% of all downloads are pornographic. Two and a half billion emails daily contain porn, or 8% of all emails. Every 39 minutes a new pornographic video is being created in the United States.

More than alarming, these statistics are staggering. As a result of this tremendous volume of pornography use, internet porn addiction is skyrocketing.

More and more youth are falling victims to internet porn. TopTenReviews.com reports that the average age of first internet exposure to pornography is 11 years old, and 80% of 15 -17 year olds have had multiple hard-core exposures. Additionally, 90% of 8 – 16 year olds have viewed porn online.

Adults are succumbing to internet porn addiction in record numbers. TopTenReviews.com further reports that 40 million US adults regularly visit internet porn sites and that 10% of adults admit to internet sexual addiction. One in three adults to visit porn sites are women.

Results of viewing porn

Pornography leaves in its wake shattered dreams. As I work with individuals with an internet porn addiction, it never ceases to amaze me how incapacitating the addiction is. Whether they look at porn daily or a few times a month, the good they do in their lives is undermined.

Common complaints are the loss of self-respect and a diminished drive in other aspects of their lives. Wives of those who are married are hurt and frustrated continually. There is absolutely nothing good that comes of viewing porn.

Ending internet porn addiction

The good news is that an addiction to internet porn can be reversed. By understanding the way the brain works, you can begin the steps that you, or your loved one, can follow to finally overcome it.

By definition, an addiction is a serious habit that is extremely difficult to overcome. Overcoming porn addiction is doable, but it requires sincere desire and effort as well as help.

When it comes to help from others, much of the conventional wisdom toward overcoming addiction is faulty. Well meaning people try to help by encouraging you to focus more, to exercise more self-discipline, to try harder. However, those words are anything but helpful.

Recent medical science is confirming that you cannot think or discipline yourself into changing a habit by focusing on the habit itself. That only reinforces the habit. For an explanation of how the brain develops habits and how to overcome them, see Stop Porn Addiction.

Habits are the result of repeated acts, and acts are preceded by thoughts. The principle that governs how to change your habits is known as the Law of Displacement. Click here for more on changing thoughts and the Law of Displacement.

A Game Plan

The key to ending internet porn addiction is to implement a game plan that will put this replacement process into action.

Here’s a game plan that really works, a proven plan that can set you up to win. You or your loved one can be on the road to freedom from porn addiction today.
